Tribal coordination committee (TCC) J&K unit Thursday alleged that despite clear evidence, the culprits responsible for the rape of and murder of a minor nomad girl are being shielded “with the full support of the BJP and the RSS particularly from Hera Nagar legislator.” The committee accused the BJP and the RSS of unleashing a reign of terror in Jammu region.
People from Gujjar and Bakarwal community assembled at Press Enclave here and staged protest demonstrations against the “ruthless attitude” of BJP and RSS parties against them in Jammu region.
The protestors alleged that the case has been handed over to the crime branch at the behest of BJP to divert the public attention. “Investigating officer of the case had almost zeroed in on the culprits when he was removed at the behest of Heera Nagar BJP legislator,” said Talib Hussain Bajran, a protestor.
“Two suspects have already been identified but instead of questioning them, they are being shielded,” he alleged. The protesters said that ever since the formation of BJP-PDP coalition government, “Gujjar and Bakarwal communities are being targeted in every part of Jammu.”
“We were forcibly evacuated from our forest land. Jammu Kashmir government is declining to implement the forest rights act at the behest of BJP Minister Lal Singh, who has been encouraging ‘Bhagva’ elements to harass us. The minor girl became the victim because of our demand for the implementation of forest right act,” said the protesters.
An eight year girl was abducted in 10 January 2018 and her body was found on 17 January 2018 near her native village Rassana in Hiranagar, Kathua. The preliminary investigation revealed that she was raped and murdered.
