Troops asked to remain prepared: Northern Army Commander

Amid continuous shelling and firing at Line of Control,Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh has asked the forces toremain prepared for facing the current security challenge.

The army commander accompanied by Nagrota based 16 CorpsCommander; Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh visited forward posts in AkhnoorSector to review the operational preparedness and the prevalent securitysituation.

   

During the visit, Army Commander was briefed by fieldcommanders about current operational and prevailing security scenario besidepreparedness of the formations.

The Army Commander was also briefed on actions taken afterincreased ceasefire violations on LoC to exert pressure on Pakistan anddefensive measures put in place.

Interacting with troops, Lt Gen Singh said, “There is needto remain prepared for effectively meeting current emerging securitychallenge.”

He exhorted all ranks on the “need to remain vigilant tocounter the nefarious designs of the enemy and anti-national elements.”

The army commander was also appreciative of the measures andstandard operating procedures instituted by formations in their area ofresponsibility to minimise the casualties due to cease fire violations andinfiltration bids.

Earlier, he visited Rajouri sector, a day after Indian AirForces engaged Pakistan’s planes in bordering Rajouri and Poonch districts.
