Weather Advisory: Traffic to remain off Mughal Road

Taking note of the weather advisory by the metrological department, which predicted rainfall and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir state for the next three days, Jammu and Kashmir police ordered the closure of Mughal Road, till further orders, on Sunday.

Traffic will remain off the road for at least three days, starting Monday morning.

Senior superintendent of police Poonch Rajiv Pandey told Greater Kashmir, “A weather advisory has been issued for the next three days. The MeT has predicted rainfall across the state and even snowfall at some places. Keeping it in view, we have ordered the closure of Mughal Road, till the weather improves, starting Monday morning.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Mughal Road remained shut for almost eight days, from the night of October 31, after unexpected and heavy snowfall was recorded on the road. During the closure, authorities managed to rescue more than 150 people from the road.

Besides, 104 vehicles remained stranded on the road for seven days due to accumulation of snow.
