ZAKURA ATTACK: Court frames charges against accused

A court here today framed charges against three persons accused of killing a sub inspector last year. 

The charges were framed by fourth additional sessions court after hearing additional public prosecutor Sabeena Naveed and defence counsel advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Dar.

   

The accused Towseef Ahmad, Rashid Ahmad Sheikh and Arif Ahmad Sheikh have been charged for murder and unlawful activities.

The sub-inspector Imran Tak was killed in a shootout at Zakura area here on 17 November.

As per prosecution, police was checking vehicles after a search operation was launched in Zakura following reports of militant movement there.  “A vehicle was asked to stop, but militants travelling in it opened fire, triggering a shootout. The vehicle crossed the naka point and gained speed but was chased by the policemen. In the initial shootout, sub-inspector Imran and another policeman sustained injuries. However, Imran later succumbed to his injuries,” police said its investigation report.
