ZEO Doongi office locked

The local authorities here are mulling action against a clerk of Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Doongi and some local former Sarpanches for their role in locking the ZEO office for more than three weeks.

As per official sources, an order for shifting the ZEO office Doongi from a rented building to a government building was issued by the education department about a month ago, after which the department started to shift the office and a major portion of record and infrastructure was shifted to a new building as well.

However, some locals stalled this process and locked the rented building with some records present inside and the said building has been locked for over three weeks now, sources said.

They also divulged that despite repeated attempts of the education department officers, the deadlock persists and the rented building is still under lock.

When contacted, DDC Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal said that two local Sarpanches, along with some locals created hindrances in shifting of the office while most of the record was shifted already, but some documents remained inside the locked building.

“Chief Education Officer Rajouri visited the area on April 20 and ascertained the status of the matter,” DDC said. He further added that action is being taken against erring clerk for his involvement in this matter as well as against some Former Sarpanches for creating hindrance in official work.
