1525 new cases; lowest in 42 days

At 1525 new cases, Jammu and Kashmir recorded its lowest daily Covid-19 caseload of the last 42 days, while 37 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours.

The lower case count can be also attributed to the fact that the health department has conducted only 33234 tests in the last 24 hours which is 10,000 tests lesser in comparison to the average tests conducted during the past few weeks.

   

J&K reported 37 new Covid deaths, of which 20 are from Jammu division and 17 from Kashmir division, taking the total tally of Covid related deaths to 3907. Jammu division has reported 1908 deaths and Kashmir division 1999 deaths.

As per the health department, 05 died in GMC Jammu, 01 in SSH Jammu, 01 in CH Udhampur, 01 in AKG Hosp Kathua, 01 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in ASCOMS Jammu, 02 in GMC Doda, 03 in SMVDNH Katra, 01 in DMC Ludhiana, 01 in Amandeep Hosp Amritsar, 01 in Amandeep Hosp Pathankot, 02 in Home/ Brought Dead, 01 in SMHS Srinagar, 02 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 02 in SKIMS Soura, 02 in DH Bandipora, 02 in JLNM Srinagar, 02 in DH Pulwama, 01 in DCHC Nagam, 02 in GMC Baramulla & 03 in DH Kulgam.

As many as 1525 persons were tested positive out of 33234 tested conducted in the last 24 hours. Out of the total infection cases, Kashmir reported 1000 Covid-19 positive cases and Jammu 525 infection cases.

Srinagar reported 253 cases, Baramulla 102, Budgam 121, Pulwama 77, Kupwara 181, Anantnag 88, Bandipora 35, Ganderbal 46, Kulgam 65, Shopian 32, Jammu 278, Udhampur 25, Rajouri 40, Doda 64, Kathua 13, Samba 6, Kishtwar 14, Poonch 29, Ramban 36and Reasi 20.

However the silver lining is that 4070 more COVID-19 patients have recovered, 1898 from Jammu division and 2436 from Kashmir division, taking the total number of recoveries to 243588.

The number of active positive cases has shown a downward trend, currently 35095 active cases are in J&K – 22034 in Kashmir and 13061 in Jammu division.

As per the details shared by the health department, 5976 hospital beds have been designated for Covid-19 patients, of which 2160 are occupied by patients admitted in various hospitals across J&K. 1797 Covid patients are on oxygen support and 111 on ventilator support.
