2 boys wounded after grenade goes off ‘accidentally’

Two boys were wounded after a grenade they were fiddling with accidentally went off in southern Pulwama district on Friday, the police said.

A police official said the injured, identified as Sharafat Bashir and Junaid Bilal, both aged 13 years, were toying with the explosive device at Rahmoo village, causing serious injuries to one of them.

Both the injured were evacuated to primary health center Rahmoo, from where they were referred to district hospital Pulwama.

The condition of Junaid, according to a doctor, is critical as he had suffered serious head injuries.

The condition of Sharafat however is said to be stable.

A source told Greater Kashmir that the boys had reportedly found the grenade in an open field before it exploded.
