2-day format cricket match held at SK Stadium
Srinagar, June 20: A two-day format cricket match for juniors was conducted by J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium at Sonwar.
The first of its kind domestic match for juniors in Kashmir was held on Saturday and Sunday which saw B-XI and J-XI playing against each other .
It was after a long time that a two-day format cricket match was held in Srinagar for local boys and probably first time for the juniors .
Before JKCA got plagued in scandals two-day format tournaments used to be a usual affair but then due to multiple controversies cricket took abackstage .
In the match, J-XI beat B-XI by 130 runs. Batting first, J-XI posted a total of 349 runs for the loss of five wickets.
Hurair Sofi and Zaid Faisal scored brilliant centuries.
For B-XI, Suhaib took two wickets.
In reply , B-XI were all out for 219 runs. Zaman scored a brilliant century for them while as Basit Bilal scored 50. Junaid Farooq took four wickets for B-XI while Tauqeer and Zaid Gulzar took two wickets each.
The BCCI appointed Sub-Committee for JJCA affairs, Mithun Manhas, Anil Gupta, Sunil Sethi and Srinagar incharge Majid Dar interacted with the cricketers and assured them all kind of help.
Former J&K Ranji Trophy skipper Abdul Qayoom Bagaw termed hosting of two-day format match a great beginning.
"Leave aside all the politics, this is real cricket and this is what is needed to be done. We can produce talented players only with this kind of real cricket and not by conducting T20 events. It is good thing done by JKCA and I am hopeful that they will continue taking such decisions," Bagaw said.
