In third such incident in six days, gunmen today fired on a policeman guarding a bank in Shopian district and decamped with his service rifle.

Reports said that a police head constable posted at JK Bank Kachdoora was injured when unidentified gunmen fired at him Friday afternoon. A bullet hit his hand.

The injured cop of Jammu and Kashmir Police, identified as Sartaj Ahmad, was immediately shifted to a hospital.

Soon after the incident large contingent of forces reached the spot and cordoned the village. Later a search operation was launched to nab the gunmen.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, DIG South Kashmir Nitish Kumar said, "We have cordoned the area and a manhunt has been launched to nab the militants." The search operations were on till evening.
