Militant outfits are trying to lure youth to join their groups in Kashmir, the government informed Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Union Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said the central government is regularly monitoring the security and militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There are intelligence inputs that indicate that militant outfits are trying to lure some youths to join their outfits in Kashmir," Chaudhary said in a written reply to a question.
He added the government has adopted various counter measures to "neutralise these efforts" and capabilities of militants "which are aimed at disturbing peace in the state."
"The government has also encouraged policies to mainstream the youth, including providing employment opportunities to wean them (youth) away from militancy," the minister said.
