A senior army commander Tuesday said more than 300 militants are "waiting to infiltrate into Indian side but are not able to."
"Militants are frustrated and their actions on border show this frustration," said GOC 15 Corps, Lt General Satish Dua. He was speaking to media persons during a function organized by 'Victor Force' at Awantipora.
"There are more than 300 militants ready to infiltrate on borders. They are ahead of launch pads but are not succeeding in their attempts," the GOC said.
"The militants are trying their best to infiltrate into this side before the snowfall. But they are committing different acts such as firing on border by which they are giving vent to their frustration. They are frustrated," he said. "Because of our highly-trained, well coordinated counter-infiltration grid, the militants are unable to infiltrate, but they still keep trying."
"Seeing that infiltration is not taking place, the militants have started tactics of recruiting locals. However these youth do not go outside for training or weapons so they are very less trained," he said.
"These youth are misguided. In olden days there would be no hype in media but now social media is enough for hype because it is a cheapest and easiest way to do it."
He said: "Diverting the mindset of youth towards games and diverting youth from militancy is the most important work of army and the government is also playing its role in it."
"Under Sadhbhavna, army is and has been playing an important role to get the youth involved in different activities and games," he said.
