Mother of senior journalist Yusuf Jameel passed away on Monday at her residence at Chinar Avenue Naseem Bagh Habak here after brief illness. She was 84.
People from different walks of life participated in her Nimaz-e-Jinaza which was led by Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Family sources said mourning will be held for three days only. The deceased is survived by three sons, Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Yusuf Jameel and Bashir Ahmad Shah, and a daughter.
The Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, while condoling the demise, expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty for giving strength to the family to bear the loss. She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani, also condoled the demise and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family besides praying for peace to the departed soul. Expressing grief over the demise, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, sympathized with Yusuf Jameel and other members of the bereaved family. "The Mirwaiz after learning about her demise, visited the Habak Naseem Bagh residence of the deceased and led her funeral prayers," a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) said in a statement today. Mirwaiz prayed to Almighty Allah to grant her a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and forbearance to the bereaved family. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, also expressed grief over the demise. Yasin Malik, along with other JKLF leaders, participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased. Praying for heavenly abode to the departed soul, Malik expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah, condoled the demise and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. A DFP delegation led by its general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari visited the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (R) chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bita Karate, has expressed grief over the demise, sympathized with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. A delegation of JKLF (R ) leaders led by Bita Karate participated in funeral prayers of the deceased. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (H) chairman, Javaid Ahmad Mir, while expressing grief over the demise, described the deceased as kind and noble woman. He prayed for the deceased and sympathized with the bereaved family. The Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo, has extended condolences to Yusuf Jameel. The Advisor prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, GA Mir, expressed grief over the demise and sympathized with the bereaved family, especially Yusuf Jameel, and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul. The Department of Information and Public Relations, at a condolence meeting today with Director Information Muneer-ul-Islam in chair, condoled the demise.
