Day after he was made the in-charge of the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary seat, senior PDP leader Imran Ansari asked the party workers to gear up for the upcoming election to the constituency, stating that 'our alliance is with those who are sweeping all elections across the country.'
"We have to gear up to ensure victory for our candidate," Ansari told workers' convention at party headquarters here, after the PDP candidate for the seat, Nazir Ahmad Khan, filed his nomination papers here.
"Don't be afraid of anything. Our alliance is with those who are sweeping all elections across country." He was referring to PDP's ally BJP's massive win in Uttar Pradesh and other states recently.
While appealing to party workers to "work hard" for ensuring Khan's win from Srinagar constituency, Ansari said: "He (Khan) has been a PDP member since early days but had moved out of the family for some time."
Ansari who had, in protest, resigned from cabinet on February 16, hours after Chief Minister expanded her Council of Ministers, met the CM at her Gupkar residence on Sunday. During the meeting the Chief Minister assured Ansari that she would address all his issues. He was also made the in-charge of the Srinagar constituency yesterday.
"Nazir sahab is one among us… The people who think National Conference will be voted to the parliament are far from the ground reality," Ansari said.
Hitting out at the National Conference's Working President Omar Abdullah, Ansari alleged that "only God and a few people know how he won Beerwah seat."
