Army on Monday said it killed four militants near Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
Giving details, an army official said: "Soldiers intercepted a group of militants near the LoC this morning and challenged them. The militants opened fire which was retaliated to, triggering a gunfight in which four militants were killed." He said the identity of the slain militants is being established. The Army official claimed that it was this year's first infiltration bid. "Even though passes are still closed due to snow but militants somehow managed to sneak in," he said, adding: "Although four militants were killed, we believe their associates fled back." Army's Srinagar-based spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, while talking to Greater Kashmir, said: "We are anticipating that infiltration attempts from across the LoC would increase in coming days as snow is melting."
