'Where there is a will there is a way'. Under the banner of this adage, a group of few like-minded young people assembled together to carve out their living and simultaneously provide employment to youth, particularly the skilled workforce. They pooled their will together and launched Mistryme – an on-demand home maintenance service company. Mistryme is on its journey, though in its infancy stage, towards becoming a household name in its areas of operation.
"It all started from a small household issue during the winter of 2016," says Waqas, one of the founders of Mistryme. Waqas holds a bachelor's degree and is also Six Sigma Certified Green belt, ITILv3 certified and Microsoft certified professional. He has worked for companies like HCL technologies, Aditya Birla Group and Hewlett-Packard.
"I was supposed to have some water pipes fixed at home. As my regular plumber wasn't available so I had to look for a new plumber from the open market. Luckily, my friend gave me the contact number of another plumber. However, the guy showed up only after a month's time in spite of several reminders and earnest requests. The issue was minor, however, problem resolution was major. Having already gone through the ordeal, I didn't mind paying him extra bucks for his unsatisfactory service," says Waqas.
"I was constantly contemplating about the helplessness of a customer at the hands of one man show. Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind, what if all home maintenance services were available on a phone?" The idea being solid as well as logical inspired him enough to envisage a home maintenance service.
Since then he started meeting technicians from different trades to hire their services. After some research and groundwork a home-based maintenance service was started in May 2016.
Its services were available over the phone, and, initially, it offered services like appliance repairing, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and electrician services. Nevertheless, everything came to a halt after 8th July 2016, because of the turmoil in the valley. And this was the litmus test of Waqas' patience when everything came to a standstill.
Finally, his patience paid off. He got in touch with his mentor who encouraged him and boosted his morale. He was introduced by his mentor to two like-minded technocrats Basit and Heena. They liked the idea and joined the company as its stakeholders.
Basit holds a degree in business administration from KU and is also Red hat certified system engineer and Cisco certified Network associate. He has worked for many reputed multinational companies like IBM, Bank of America, Reliance life.
Another stakeholder Heena, a postgraduate in information and technology from Sikkim Manipal University, has worked for companies like Reliance Health and Aptech.
Together they joined in hands with Waqas and gave the company a new projection.
The first step towards a new facelift of the company was therefore it's branding. The company hired the services of a startup company "Brand and Design (B&D)"run by some professionals. Interestingly, it was B&D's first assignment for another startup. However, it proved beneficial for both the organizations, as Mistryme became a familiar name in the market in a short span of time. It was in FEB 2017, that the company was relaunched with a new face.
Some more tech savvy people became part of the core team of Mistryme like Suhail, Jeelani and Adil
Mistryme in its new Avatar, is available on website(www.mistryme.com)/mobile app/phone. Today, Mistryme has a satisfied clientele among which includes some prestigious educational institutions, hospitals, hotels, offices and clinics besides home based segment.
"The process followed at Mistryme is fully automated, based on CRM designed in house by its own developing team. Mistryme is in the process of expanding its operations and covering more areas; thereby increasing its clientele," says Basit .
"We are actually making an effort to foster and redefine the unorganized skilled industry so that consumers should no longer be dictated by any labour nor should bear any exorbitant prices or poor quality. "We believe in quality with fair pricing and timely resolution," states Basit.
Mistryme has created jobs for unemployed youth and committed in absorbing more youth in the coming days and thus helping the society in its own small way. Today, there are six members in their core team and more than 100 technicians on board.
"We are training youth for different trades by giving them on job trainings through mirroring and use of our Knowledge base. Currently, we have 14 verticals for which we provide services including appliance repairing, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, electrician, painting services, computer and networking services, software development, cleaning services, gardening services, welding and architectural and interior designing services," concludes Heena.
