A meeting was held at Awami Action Committee headquarters Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal here under the chairmanship of patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The meeting expressed serious concern over the unabated incidents of braid cutting and the "callous approach of the government" which has triggered a new wave of fear among the women folk across Kashmir.

The meeting said that all the claims of the government regarding putting an end to braid cutting incidents have proved futile.

During the meeting, Mirwaiz met various delegations of youth who apprised him about framing of local level committees for night and day vigil to keep braid cutters at bay.

Praising the efforts of youth, Mirwaiz said that people of Kashmir, especially the youth, have always led the way and worked against all odds in the past. "I am hopeful the fresh moves to instill fear among people will also be defeated."

Mirwaiz said that it's time for steadfastness and unity among the people "to defeat all evil designs of agencies who are hell-bent to weaken the movement."

Strongly condemning the killing of a teacher Aijaz Ahmed Lone, Mirwaiz said such killings are highly condemnable and there can be no space for such dastardly acts in any civilised society.

Mirwaiz also condemned the use of force on the people of Walarhama Sallar, Anantnag stating that the use of force has become a routine affair of forces now. He said even people are not allowed to raise voice against genuine issues and instead are showered with pellets and teargas shells.  GKNN
