Deputy speaker Nazir Ahmad Gurezi who was conducting the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday had to adjourn the House due to the lack of quorum.

As the opposition MLA from Banihal Vikar Rasool was speaking during the discussion on grant of industries and commerce department, the deputy speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

"House is adjourned for 10 minutes due to lack of quorum" Gurezi said.

The adjournment was apparently embarrassing for the few PDP ministers who were present in the House. "The members (from PDP) don't take this House seriously," relief and rehabilitation minister was overheard saying in annoying tone.

As the House resumed after 10 minutes, Gurezi asked the law minister Abdul Haq Khan to take the House seriously.

"You should not take this house for granted, it is your job to maintain quorum of the House," Gurezi said.

It may be recalled that the opposition came to rescue of government to maintain quorum of the House on last Saturday as very few members were present in the treasury benches.

"Don't worry, we are here and you are now complete," NC MLA had asked parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rehman Veeri as maximum treasury benches were vacant.
