The political and religious groups in Rajouri on Thursday unanimously announced shutdown on August 6 to protest against any tinkering with Article 35-A which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
In a meeting held today which was attended by civil society members, religious scholars and members of Muslim Welfare Forum, it was decided that shutdown will be observed on August 6 when hearing on Article 35-A is scheduled in Supreme Court.
It was also decided that rallies would be taken in the district against it post Friday prayers, said a participant. Later, participants also took out a rally towards Rajouri Press Club where formal announcement about the shutdown call was made. GKNN
