Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit slain army soldier Aurangzeb's residence in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir in March this year, Choudhary Muhammad Hanief, the slain soldier's father, said on Sunday.

On way to his home in Poonch, Aurangzeb, a soldier of army's 4 Jammu and Kashmir light infantry, was kidnapped by militants in June last year from Pulwama district of Kashmir province and his bullet-riddled body was later recovered from Gusoo area of the town.

Choudhary Muhammad Hanief, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said: "The PM greeted me with exuberance for joining the BJP. He hailed my son's sacrifice for the nation and praised me for my bravery".

Hanief further said the Prime Minister told him that he had watched all his interviews after the death of his son and "he (Modi) expressed grief over the demise of Aurangzeb". "The PM also extended all possible help to my family members and assured that he would personally visit our residence in March," Hanief said. Meanwhile, lieutenant general (retired) Rakesh Kumar Sharma also joined the BJP at Vijaypur. Born in Jammu's Sunjwan area, Sharma is an alumnus of the Sainik School Jamnagar in Gujarat.
