Eleven people, including four policemen, three Central Reserve Police Force personnel and four civilians were wounded after suspected militants tossed a grenade at the CRPF camp at Pallaidum in Lal Chowk on Sunday evening.
A police spokesman said that the militants lobbed a grenade at 132 BN CRPF stationed at Palladium in Lal Chowk at 6:45 PM.
"Officers attended the crime spot and found that four cops, three CRPF personnel and four civilians were injured in the attack. The injured civilians have been identified as Humaira of Hairwan, Abdul Qayoom of Mandibal Nowshehra, Taliba Gulshan of Dalgate and Shadab Shah resident of Nishat," said the spokesman.
A source identified the injured policemen as Ashiq Ahmed, Abid Ahmed , Muhammad Shafi, and Nasir Ahmed while as CRPF men were identified as ASI R Munaswami, constable Vishal and Constable Davinder of 132 BN.
He said that the area has been cordoned off and a massive search has been launched.
"The injured have been shifted to the hospitals for the treatment of their injuries. They are stated to be stable," said the police spokesman. Police has registered a case in this regard and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the incident, he said.
