In last 136 days, police have arrested 280 Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir. This was informed by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, replying to questions of parliamentarians during ongoing session of Rajya Sabha.
"472 persons were also detained under Public Safety Act," Minister of State in Ministry of Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, informed the House through a written reply.
Replying another part of question, he added, "To bring normalcy in Kashmir valley after the civil unrest since 8th July, 2016, Prime Minister and Home Minister have regularly reviewed the security situation in J&K."
Additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces were also deployed to support the State Police, he said.
