3-day HMV traffic trial run through Banihal-Qazigund tunnel starts today

Ramban, June 26: The trial run of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) traffic via newly-constructed double-tube Banihal- Qazigund tunnel would start for three days from Sunday .

Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam on Saturday twitted from his official Twitter handle that HMV traffic trail run through the newly-constructed Banihal-Qaziqund tunnel would be held on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 10 am to 5pm.

   

Earlier, on several occasions vehicles were permitted to pass through the tunnel only for two hours by the management of the Tunnel Construction Company of the National Highway Authority of India at Banihal and Ujroo Qaziqund.

The authorities said that the tunnel would be kept open routinely for a few hours before its inauguration.

Similar trails were conducted on several occasions in the past also by the tunnel executing agency Nauyog.

It took nine years for the construction company to build the double tube 8.5 km tunnel and now the tunnel is ready for inauguration.
