Three persons were killed after an avalanche struck Aru Valley in Pahalgam on Friday, officials said.
An official said a JCB was swept away along with three persons during a snow clearance operation at Gudkhamb point on the Aru-Pahalgam road.
“One person was rescued earlier in a serious condition and evacuated to district hospital Anantnag where he was declared as brought dead. Two others died on the spot,” the official said.
The police have identified the deceased as Javed Ahmed Sheikh son of Muhammad Shaban of Frislan Pahalgam, Ilyas Ahmed Shah son of Abdul Gani of Midoora Tral and Abdul Aziz Khatana son of Muhammad Amin of Manilan Pahalgam.
