34 Covid deaths in J&K

Srinagar, June 4: Jammu and Kashmir reported 34 deaths attributed to Covid-19 while 1723 persons tested positive for the viral respiratory illness in the last 24 hours.

It is after two days that J&K again witnessed over 30 deaths in a day, with it the total tally of deaths due to this virus has crossed 4000. Currently as per the official details 4026 persons have succumbed after getting infected with Covid infection.

   

As per the official details shared by the health department, one new confirmed case of black fungus has been reported taking the total number of such cases to 14 in J&K.

Out of total deaths reported on Friday, Jammu division logged 13 deaths and Kashmir witnessed 21 deaths.

Out of total fatalities reported so far in J&K, Jammu has witnessed 1960 deaths and Kashmir division 2066.

As per details shared by the health department, 03 people died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Doda, 02 in GMC Kathua, 02 in MH Satwari, 01 in SMVDNH Katra, 01 in CH Udhampur, 02 in Home/ Brought Dead, 06 in SMHS Sgr, 02 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 02 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in JLNM Srinagar, 01 in DH Ganderbal, 02 in DH Bandipora, 05 in GMC Anantnag & 02 in DH Kulgam.

For the last couple of days, the daily Covid positive cases are hovering in the range of 1500 to 2000, J&K on Friday reported 1723 Covid infection cases, of which 599 were reported from Jammu division and 1124 from Kashmir division, taking the total count to 297602.

Srinagar reported 303 cases, the district which is worst hit by the second Covid wave, having the highest number of active positive cases. Total 792 deaths have been reported from Srinagar district.

Jammu is the worst hit in terms of deaths reported; the district has recorded 1090 fatalities attributed to Covid since the outbreak of Covid pandemic.

Baramulla has reported 177 Covid-19 positive cases, Budgam 128, Pulwama 138, Kupwara 111, Anantnag 72, Bandipora 48, Ganderbal 37, Kulgam 88, Shopian 22, Jammu 165, Udhampur 53, Rajouri 73, Doda 48, Kathua 22, Samba 25, Kishtwar 31, Poonch 95, Ramban 75 and Reasi 12.

However with an increase in the number of recoveries of Covid patients, the number of active positive cases in J&K has come down after a month below 30,000. 2731 more COVID-19 patients have recovered, 1107 from Jammu division and 1624 from Kashmir division.

Currently there are 29615 active cases – 10612 in Jammu and 19003 in Jammu.

As per the details shared by the health department, 5845 hospital beds have been designated for Covid-19 patients, of which 1835 are occupied by patients admitted in various hospitals across J&K, 1518 Covid patients are on oxygen support and 94 on ventilator support.
