In a heart wrenching incident five persons including four of a family were killed, while another was injured in a road mishap in Bandipora on Sunday.
Officials said vehicle was heading towards Gurez from Ganderbal district, when it skidded off the road near Razdan top and fell into a gorge resulting into death of five persons travelling inside it.
The deceased have been identified as four of a family from Ganderbal’sKangan area. The family includes Sajad Ahmad Lone (45), his wife Rubeena Begum and their children–MoinSajad and ArjumandSajad, while driver of the vehicle Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh from Gurez also died in the accident.
Mohammad Khalil who was injured in the accident was rushed to the hospital where his condition was termed as “critical”.
The case has been registered in the incident, said a police official.
Meanwhile, pall of gloom descended HaknarKangan, where the family resided after bodies reached the area. The deceased Sajjad, who along with his family was killed in the tragic accident, was a well known teacher in the area.
The family’s relatives said Sajjad originally hailed from Gurez and had migrated to Kangan. They said that family were on their way to their ancestral home, when they met an accident.
Scores of people participated in the funeral of the deceased.
