Srinagar, June 26: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Saturday organised its Kashmir Province Women’s meet at the office in LalChowk, Srinagar.
The meeting was headed by former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir along with Apni Party Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir.
The meeting was attended by various women political activists hailing from different districts of Kashmir division who also interacted with the party leadership and raised pressing issues faced by the women folk in their respective areas.
Addressing the women participants in the meeting, Mir said that women play a vital role in the society for its socio-economic and political well-being.
“The contribution of women in regards to the transition of a society from preliterate to literate, uncivilised to civilised, and mediocre to technologically advanced has become a topic of research for many. The societal and civilisation transformations are directly linked with the empowered women across the globe,” he remarked.
He said that the prevailing situation in Kashmir has somehow stalled the empowerment of women for some years but the women must come forward and reclaim their inherent apt position in the making of a progressive society.
On the occasion, Apni Party Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir said, “Apni Party is committed to women empowerment as we have frequently raised the pressing issues that impede their holistic emancipation and welfare. The rise in domestic violence cases is worrisome. I urge you all to reach out to those sisters and mothers of ours who are facing such abuse and try to redress their sufferings accordingly.”
