Arrest won’t break father’s resolve: UJC

Describing the arrest of elder son on Syed Salahuddin by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as an act of vengeance, United Jihad Council (UJC) on Friday said such moves won’t break his resolve.

Syed Shakeel Ahmad, elder son of the UJC chief, was arrested by the NIA during a raid at his residence in Rambagh area of Srinagar on Thursday.

Another son of Salahuddin, Syed Shahid Yusuf, has been imprisoned at Tihar since his arrest by the NIA in October last year.

Addressing a meeting, UJC secretary general Sheikh Jameel ur Rehman said in a statement to news agency CNS that Shakeel’s arrest was a “cowardly and revengeful act which won’t break the resolve of Salahuddin”.

“The fictitious charge sheet of the NIA can’t hoodwink anyone,” he said.

He also condemned the “harassment of relatives of militants”.
