Bandipora’s 5 localities declared ‘micro containment zones’

Bandipora, June 2: Authorities on Wednesday declared five more localities of Bandipora district as ‘micro containment zones’ as fresh cases of Covid-19 were found in these localities.

Meanwhile, 62 more positive cases were reported from this north Kashmir district.

   

In an order issued here, Khan Mohalla Watapora, Patu Mohalla Watapora, Astan Mohalla Gundpora Rampora, Lone Mohalla Gundpora Rampora of tehsil Bandipora and New Khan Mohalla Kundji Vijpara of tehsil Hajin were declared ‘micro containment zones’ after Covid-19 related positive cases were reported from these localities.

Bandipora reported 62 positive cases on Wednesday.

With around 50 persons hospitalised on Tuesday, the toll of Covid-19 hospitalised patients rose to 71.

Of these 39 are on oxygen support in at least three designated facilities in the district.

The overall active daily tally of positive cases in Bandipora is 804 with 733 in home isolation.

The district reported two more fatalities on Wednesday, taking the total death toll in the district to 94 with 32 reported dead since February 15.

Officials of district COVID control said that the rate of recovery in the district had increased to 88 percent while the positivity rate has decreased to less then 6 percent.

Meanwhile, Police started a mask-distribution drive in Bandipora and sensitised people to follow the SOPs and guidelines regarding Covid-19 control.
