Shopian June 7: A Cordon and Search Operation was conducted in a number of villages in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.
A Police official said that joint teams of Army, Police and CRPF cordoned Daramdora, Turkwangam, Dachnoo Heerpora and Hanjipora villages of the district and conducted door-to-door search operations.
According to the official, the operation was launched after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in these villages.
A resident of Turkwangam village said that the forces appeared in the village around 3 am and searched a number of houses.
The operations in all the villages were called off after several hours as no militants was found hiding in these areas.
