CASO in Shopian villages

Shopian, June 18: The forces Friday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in half a dozen areas of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A Police official said that joint teams of Army, Police and CRPF cordoned Jan Mohalla and its adjacent localities in the heart of Shopian town and carried out a door-to-door search operation.

The official said that the forces also laid a siege around Nadimarg, Gadipora, Noor Mohalla Kachdoora, Nazneepora Keegam and Ramnagri villages of the district and carried out search operations.

According to the official, CASO was launched after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in these areas.

The official said that all the CASO was called off peacefully as no militants were found in these areas.
