Sopore, June 19: Massive Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) were launched in various localities of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
A CASO was launched in Batpora, Sangrampora, Khushal Matoo, Shahabad Mohalla, Khawaja Gilgit, Baba Yousuf and other adjacent areas.
The soldiers of 22 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG of J&K Police and CRPF laid a siege in these localities and made thorough searches there.
As per the locals, house-to-house searches were conducted in these areas and all entry and exit points leading towards these areas were sealed off by the forces. Top Police officials in Sopore said that following inputs about the presence of militants movement in these areas, search operations were launched.
A week ago, militants attacked a Police party at main chowk area of Sopore in which two policemen and two civilians were killed.
