Congress wins Bla council, BJP Sopore

BJP has won Municipal Council Sopore and Municipal Committee Watergam in Baramulla district, while three committees in the district went to independent candidates and Congress won Baramulla Municipal Council.

BJP has won Municipal Council Sopore and Municipal Committee Watergam in Baramulla district, while three committees in the district went to independent candidates and Congress won Baramulla Municipal Council. 

Out of the eight candidates in Sopore council, seven BJP candidates and an independent candidate were elected unopposed, while 13 out of total 21 wards had no contestants.

In the 13-ward Watergam MC, seven BJP and an independent candidate were elected unopposed and the rest four wards saw no contest. The BJP candidate also won the lone ward where election was held, taking the party's tally to eight. The Congress won the prestigious Municipal Council Baramulla, winning 12 of the wards, while BJP won five and independents two.  Independent candidates swept three municipal committees of Baramulla district—Kunzar, Pattan and Uri.  The total wards for the ULB elections across north Kashmir were 170, with a total 144299 voters. Twenty-seven BJP candidates won in the north, most of them unopposed.
