Srinagar, June 3: Jammu and Kashmir has reported 29 fatalities attributed to Covid-19 and 1801 fresh positive cases in the last 24 hours, one case of black fungus was also confirmed in the UT.
It is for the third consecutive day that the number of daily infection cases are below the 2000 mark while for the second day the death toll is less than 30.
With a dip in cases, the number of patients requiring hospitalisation has also come down drastically, a fortnight ago over 3400 patients were admitted in hospitals of J&K which has now come down to 1971. Currently 1971 hospital beds dedicated for Covid patients out of total 5976 are occupied, 1633 on oxygen support and less than hundred (98) on ventilator support.
As per the details shared by the health department, 29 patients succumbed to Covid-19 infection, of which 15 deaths were reported in Jammu division and 14 in Kashmir division taking the total tally of Covid deaths to 3992, of which 2045 deaths were recorded in Kashmir division and 1947 in Jammu division.
As per the official figures, 05 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Doda, 02 in GMC Kathua, 02 in SSH Jammu, 01 in SMVDNH Katra, 01 in DH Kishtwar, 01 in DH Reasi, 01 in Capitol Hosp Jalandhar, 04 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 02 in JLNM Srinagar, 01 in CD Hosp Srinagar, 04 in GMC Anantnag & 01 in DH Shopian.
Apart from deaths, 1801 Covid-19 positive cases were reported out of 46372 persons tested for novel coronavirus in J&K in the last 24 hours.
Out of the total positive cases, 554 were reported in Jammu division and 1247 in Kashmir division, taking the total tally of infection cases reported in J&K so far to 295879.
Srinagar reported 329 cases, Baramulla 148, Budgam 194, Pulwama 143, Kupwara 126, Anantnag 100, Bandipora 52, Ganderbal 67, Kulgam 76, Shopian 12, Jammu 153, Udhampur 27, Rajouri 92, Doda 67, Kathua 46, Samba 15, Kishtwar 25, Poonch 55, Ramban 56 and Reasi 18.
As per the official data, the number of active cases is coming down rapidly. On Thursday the number of active cases was 30657 – 19524 in Kashmir and 11133 in Jammu division.
The number of persons recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours was 2694 – 886 in Jammu division and 1808 in Kashmir division. The total number of Covid recoveries in J&K has reached 261230.
As per the official media bulletin, 01 new confirmed case of mucormycosis has been reported today, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 13 in J&K.
