Cross-LoC bus service resumes

The cross-LoC bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad resumed on Monday amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan over Pulwama suicide attack.

Five passengers from Uri left for Muzaffarabad at around 11am while eight passengers arrived from the other side at the Trade Facilitation Centre, Salamabad, Uri. The bus service was suspended between the divided parts of Kashmir following February 14 Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.

Considered as an important Confidence Building Measure between India and Pakistan, the cross-LoC bus service was started in April 2005 and runs a distance of 170 km. The bus service has been suspended several times in the past when the relations between the two neighbours soured.
