Srinagar, June 29: Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari today said that the statement made by some leaders after the June 24 all-party meeting were different from what was discussed inside.
Addressing a press conference, Bukhari said that as projected after the meeting, there was not much of
a “hue and cry” from the “Kashmir-based” parties at the all-party meet. He said some of the parties made “contradictory statements inside and outside the all-party meet.”
“These parties forgot that there were 14 people in the meeting but I guess it is their way. I again alert people not to fall prey to the politics of emotions. It is the same brand of politics which promised people of J&K Article 370 in lieu of votes in DDC polls,” Bukhari said.
"Nobody talked about dialogue with Pakistan. Everyone who was in the meeting can tell you there was no such discussion in the meeting,” he said.
"I thanked PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for taking steps on apprehensions on demographic changes. I also demanded that the Delimitation process should be postponed like in other States till 2026, but the Union Home Minister didn’t agree to the suggestion because of the J&K Re-organization Act. However, we were assured that the associate members will be from all the registered political parties who have fought the recently held District Development Council (DDC) polls to ensure transparency in the exercise,” Bukhari added.
