Dogra singers, Urdu writers among 37 State awardees

Dogra, Balti singers and Ladakhi, Urdu writers were among the recipients of State Awards announced by the government today.

As per an order by General Administration Department, State will confer awards to 36 personalities and Women Ice Hockey Team Leh for their contribution in public life, arts, literature, sports and social works.

   

Muzamil Mumtaz resident of Satrina Kangan will be conferred the Bravery Award. He will get cash award of Rs 51000, a medal and a citation.

In performing art category actor Makhan Lal Saraf,  Dogri singer Darmesh Nagotra and Balti singer Sherine Faitima will get the awards.

In Literature,  Ladakhi writer Tsering Wangdus, Urdu writer Noor Shah and Dogri writer Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal will get the awards and citation.

In arts and craft category, Kani Shwal weaver Farooq Ahmed Mir and Sozni artist Tariq Ahmed Mir will be awarded.

Association for social health in India, J&K branch, has been selected for Social Reforms & Empowerment.

Shaleen Kabra, principal secretary to the government Industries and Commerce debarment, Sheetal Nanda, administrative secretary, department of rural development and Panchayati Raj, Swayam Parkesh Panni, inspector general of police Kashmir, Khalid Jahangir, deputy commissioner Kupwara, G R Mir Additional Secretary to the government Health and Medical education department, Subash C Chhibber , Additional Secretary to Government General Administration Department, Mohamrnad Nazir Sheikh, Director Panchyati Raj Institution, Narinder Khajuria, Additional Secretary to the government, Housing & Urban Development Department, Javid Ahmad Koul, Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Branch Kashmir, Dr. R.K. Chrangoo (Retd.) Surgeon, Dr. Reyaz Untoo Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina, and Dr Saima Rashid, Principal Medical College Srinagar would get awards for Meritorious Public Service.

Recipient of Padma Shri award Dr Jitendra Udhampuri would  be honoured with lifetime achievement award along with Dr Girija Dhar, who gets the award posthumously.

Outstanding sportsperson awards will be presented to Charandeep Singh (Para-Sports), Farheen Fayaz (Pencak Silat), Nirmal Kumar (Mountaineering), Balveen Kaur (Gymnastics), Rasik Salam (Cricket), Danish Farooq (Football), Saqlain Tariq (Volleyball), Shreya Gupta (Fencing), Bilal Ahmad Dar (Cycling), Jasia Akhter (Cricket), Umar Ashraf (Deaf Cricket) and Hiteshwar Singh (Rollball) while women’s Ice Hockey Team Leh would also get State award.
