The government Tuesday directed its administrative departments to effect transfers of officers, covered under the Election Commission of India's instructions, before February 18.
According to a communiqué, the general administration department has directed all administrative secretaries and deputy commissioners to file compliance report (relating to transfers) by February 20.
As per ECI instructions, the officers posted in their home districts or having completed three years in a particular district have to be transferred.
The model code of conduct for parliamentary elections is likely to come into effect in the first week of March with the announcement of poll schedule.
