Former PDP MLA’s house attacked in Shopian

Suspected militants on Monday evening attacked the residence of a former law maker at a village in Shopian district.

A police official said that suspected militants hurled a grenade at the residence of former People’s Democratic Party MLA Abdul RazaqWagay at Zawoora village in Shopian around 7:25 pm.

   

The grenade, however, exploded outside the house, causing no injuries or loss of life, he said. Wagay who is presently putting up in Srinagar told Greater Kashmir his family at his native residence heard the blast like a bang. 

He, however, said that they were not sure if it was a grenade attack. Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order Muneer Khan confirmed the grenade attack on the residence of Wagay.

 

Militants, soldiers exchange fire in Tral

 

Militants on Monday night fired towards Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles camp at Mandoora hamlet of Traltownship in Pulwama district, police said.

 

“Militants fired towards the Army camp at 10:20 PM. The army soldiers retaliated the fire which led to the shootout, which lasted for some time. However, no loss of life or injury was reported,” Superintendent of police Awantipora Muhammad Zahid Malik told Greater Kashmir. 

Following the attack reinforcements rushed to the spot and joint forces launched searches to nab the assailants, another police official said.
