1 dies, another injured in 2 Ramban accidents
Ramban: One person died on spot whereas another sustained injuries in two separate road accidents at Ramsu and Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Saturday morning.
Police said the driver of a car died on the spot after it (car) skidded off the road near BDO office Nagarkot area of Ramsu in Ramban district in the wee hours of Saturday.
Police said a brand new Alto car, having a temporary number, was heading towards Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control over it (car) while negotiating a curve near BDO office Nagarkot. “The car fell along several hundred feet deep embankments of Bisleri Nallah resulting in the on spot death of the person behind the wheels,” police added.
His body was retrieved by the police with the help of local volunteers from the gorge and was shifted to PHC, Ramban.
Police identified the deceased as Aqeel Ahmed Shawl, son of Mohammad Sayeed Shawl, resident of Khawajabagh Baramulla, Kashmir. Police said after conducting post-mortem and other legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
In another road accident, a truck, bearing registration number UK08CA- 2973, loaded with apple cartons turned turtle on the road at Monkey Morh near Ramban resulting in injuries to its driver.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The injured driver was identified as Kadir Khan, son of Imran Khan, resident of Gadh Gharmeerpur Haridwar.
Police registered two separate cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Ramsu and Ramban for further investigations.
