2 killed, 9 injured in separate Kupwara accidents

Kupwara: A youth was killed while three other persons were injured on Monday morning after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Nechian area of border town Karnah.

An official said that a private car bearing registration number (JK01V/9561) while on way to Kupwara fell into a deep gorge at Nechien following which a rescue operation was launched by locals immediately.

   

“During the course of time the injured persons were rushed to Sub-District Hospital Tangdhar. However one of them, Nissar Ahmad Khan aged (32) son of Ghulam Hussan Khan of Karlpora succumbed to injuries before he could be given treatment,” the official said.

The injured have been identified as Ashiq Hussain Bhat (33) son of Abdullah Bhat of Lone Hari Kralpora, Iqbal Ahmad Awan (24) son of Abdul Rasheed of Karlpora, Altaf Ahmad Awan (33) son of Abdul Rasheed Awan.

According to reports the deceased was running a private school in Trehgam area of Kupwara. Police have registered a case in this regard and further investigations have been launched.

Meanwhile, in another road accident on Monday evening at TP Kralpora, a Tata Mobile which was moving from Kupwara to Karnah, met an accident resulting on-spot death of the driver while six others received injuries.

An official said that the vehicle bearing registration number (JK01T 6251) associated with a private telecommunication company, besides driver of the vehicle, had six labourers on board when it fell into a deep gorge at TP area of Kralpora.

The official said that the driver identified as Farooq Ahmad Khan (26) resident of Masari died on-spot while the injured have been shifted to Sub District Hospital Kralpora for treatment.
