Army’s Northern Commander visits Poonch LoC areas

Rajouri: Amid prevailing high alert situation both on Line of Control and in hinterland in twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, Army's Northern Commander, Lieutenant General YK Joshi on Thursday visited the forward areas and Line of Control in Poonch district especially in Krishna Ghati sector.

Lt Gen YK Joshi is also the Colonel of the regiment of JAK Rif regiment. During his visit on LoC and forward areas, Lt Gen Joshi took stock of the security situation and also reviewed security grid especially in terms of counter insurgency.

Local field commanders and commanding officers briefed Lt Gen Joshi about the situation especially context with recent infiltration attempt.

During his visit, Lt Gen Joshi complimented the troops for alertness on LoC and for foiling recent infiltration attempts. He was accompanied by other senior army officers of Indian Army.

Pertinent to mention here that Indian army foiled an infiltration attempt on LoC in Mendhars' Balakote area six days ago and killed a person who was later identified as an aged man namely Muhammad Arif who was a wanted cross LoC infiltration guide in army record and was wanted for his role in infiltration from last around three decades.
