Cold wave continues in Kashmir

Srinagar: Chilly weather conditions continued unabated in J&K and Ladakh as Srinagar recorded minus 6 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive night on Sunday.

This was the lowest temperature of the season recorded so far and was minus 4.5 degrees Celsius below normal for this time of the year. Ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district settled at minus 7.5 degrees Celsius during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, up by 1 degree Celsius the previous night, the MeT data said.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 6.5 degrees Celsius against minus 6 degrees Celsius on the previous night. Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 8.7 degrees Celsius against minus 8.3 degrees Celsius on the previous night.
