Srinagar: Two people died due to COVID19 in Kashmir division today, the death toll in two days of November six already. J&K had 110 people testing positive for the viral infection on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, 110 fresh cases were reported, the highest single day case rise in the past 26 days. Of these, 92 cases are from Kashmir division and 18 from Jammu division.
The number of cases reported in the past week from Srinagar, Budgam and Baramulla has been consistently high, pushing the COVID19 tally up. Today, 42 new cases were reported from district Srinagar while 21 cases were from Baramulla. At present, there are 455 active cases in Srinagar, constituting 53.2 percent of the total active cases in Kashmir. Kashmir had 815 active cases as per the bulletin issued by the government. In Jammu there are 91 active cases.
Official bulletin on COVID19 on Tuesday said that two people died of SARS-CoV2 today.
One of the deceased belonged to Srinagar and the other casualty was a resident of Shopian. In the past two days, six people have lost their lives due to the viral infection in Kashmir division. The death toll of COVID19 reached 4438 with these fatalities on Tuesday.
In the past 24 hours, 34173 COVID tests have been carried out in the UT, the bulletin said. The positive percentage of samples reported on Tuesday was higher than the percentage reported on the earlier days of the week.
Today, nearly one lakh vaccines were administered in the 20 districts of J&K. J&K Government said 99958 doses were administered in 24 hours, 2917 of these first doses. Over 15000 vaccine jabs were given in district Srinagar. The total number of doses administered in J&K reached 1,48,11,303.
