Day 6: Searches continue in Sunderbani

Rajouri: The security forces on the sixth consecutive day on Sunday continued the combing operation at villages near Line of Control in Sunderbani.

Officials told Greater Kashmir that even as the cordon had been lifted in the area, the intense searches were going on.

“Village Daddal which is epicentre of this operation is located along Line of Control and any input from such area is always taken seriously. It is for this reason that this anti-militancy operation is still going on even as there is no trace of or fresh contact with the suspected militants for the last four days,” the officials said.

They said that the main operation site “is being searched by army while police is on job on outer line”.

“Searches are going on but there is no positive result so far,” the officials said. Pertinent to mention here that a cordon and search operation was launched in Daddal village in Sunderbani on Monday afternoon after “information related to movement of armed men in the area”.

An exchange of fire had also taken place in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in which an army personnel got injured.
