Rajouri: The anti militancy operation in Nar Khas forests along Bhata Dhurian village in Mendhar of Poonch district continued for the seventeenth day with no headway on Saturday.
The security forces, engaged in a massive combing operation, could not trace the militants suspected to be present in the area.
This operation started on October 14 after an encounter broke out between militants and forces in Nar Khas forest area in which four army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, were killed.
“For 17th straight day on Saturday, the operation continued in the area. Manhunt launched to track the militants is on. Meanwhile, the lull at the encounter site persisted on the fourth day as no contact was established between the forces and militants,” official sources said.
The entire area of Sangiote, Nar Khas and Bhata Dhurian also remained under cordon.
The vehicular traffic on highway stretch between Bhimber Gali and Jarran Wali Gali also remained suspended.
The traffic was diverted through Mendhar.
