Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called for a complete social boycott of those resorting to vandalisation of government property.

He made these remarks while referring to a recent incident of vandalisation of ‘Selfie-point’ installed under Jammu Smart City project. While addressing the gathering after inaugurating “Adopt a park” initiative at Trikuta Nagar, LG Sinha said, “There are certain people who take pride in vandalising government property. The society needs to remain cautious of such people. Recently we came across another such incident. If the society does not take note of such degrading acts, this will embolden those elements and they will harm and sabotage whatever good is happening.”

“I’m not asking to adopt a vindictive attitude against such elements. But the people definitely need to take steps which should not encourage such people and their such reprehensible acts. As an enlightened society, a call for complete social boycott of such elements can be taken. Government property is people’s property created with their hard-earned money, it cannot be allowed to vandalise this way.” he added.

“The enlightened citizens like Dr Mitali Gupta who converted a park dotted by heaps of garbage into a herbal garden like “Devansh’ as an initiative using their own resources and money need to be lauded and honoured. But one cannot allow some miscreants to spoil the good work done by others in the wider interests of society,” LG Sinha further said.
