Maintenance of roads in UT: Standing Committee to decide allocation of funds

Jammu: The government on Wednesday constituted the UT level Standing Committee for deciding annual allocation of funds for maintenance of different categories of roads in terms of the Jammu and Kashmir Road Maintenance Policy, 2021.

The committee will comprise the Chief Secretary as chairman, Administrative Secretaries of Finance Department; Public Works Department; Development Commissioner (Works); Chief Engineer PW(R&B) Department, Jammu; Chief Engineer PW(R&B) Department, Kashmir; Chief Engineer PMGSY, Jammu and Chief Engineer PMGSY, Kashmir as its members.

As per the terms of reference, the committee will decide annual allocation of funds for maintenance of different categories of road networks. It will also explore avenues for mobilising additional funds for reducing the gap between the funds required and those made available for maintenance of the roads.
