Militants attack cop’s house in Verinag

Anantnag: Militants on Tuesday attacked the house of a police man in Verinag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district injuring his wife and daughter.

A police official said that late evening militants broke into the house of constable Sajad Ahmad Malik at Kokagund, Verinag and fired at his wife and daughter.

   

The duo sustained bullet injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital and later referred to GMC Anantnag. A police official identified the injured as Naidha Jan and Madhiya.

Medical Superintendent GMC Anantnag Dr Iqbal Sofi said that both have bullet injuries in legs and are being operated upon.

It is yet to be ascertained whether the cop was present at his house at the time of attack or not. Soon after the incident, the entire area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.
