NIA carries out searches, 1 arrested

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at four locations in Sopore and Srinagar on Thursday and arrested one person in a militancy

related case. “Today (16.12.2021) NIA conducted searches at 4 locations in Sopore and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir and arrested one accused person Irfan Tariq Antoo r/o Kral Tang, Sopore in RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI” said a statement.

The case, NIA said relates to conspiracy for undertaking violent terrorist acts in J&K and other major cities including New Delhi, by cadres of proscribed terrorist organisations Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM),Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc.

The probe agency said that NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10.10.2021 and initiated the investigation. NIA has arrested 28 persons in the case till now. Investigation has revealed that arrested accused person is a terror associate/ OGW of proscribed terrorist organisation and have been providing logistical and material support to terrorists, it said. Further investigation in the case continues, NIA said.
