Jammu: District Administration here has imposed night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am beginning Wednesday, following a steady rise in Covid cases reported in the district over the last few days.

“There shall be night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am (instead of 11 pm to 5 am) in the territory of Jammu District from November 17, 2021 (Wednesday) till further orders,” ordered District Magistrate, Jammu, Anshul Garg while exercising the powers vested in him under section 144 of CrPC.

He ordered that “Tehsildars and SHOs shall ensure that laud-speakers announcements for awareness of the general public for enforcement.”

“The Chief Medical Officer, Jammu shall ensure robust covid testing in congested areas and potential hotspots,” the order issued by DM Jammu District reads. The violators of the DM’s order were warned of action under IPC.

The order says that: “The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Jammu held the detailed review of the Covid scenario prevailing in the district wherein it has been noted with caution that there has been steady rise in covid cases reported in the district over the last few days and positivity rate has increased beyond 0.2 % which requires immediately attention and remedial action on the part of district administration”.

The order reads that: “Necessary precautions regarding prevention and protocol of Coronavirus infection have already been taken by the district administration in coordination with police and health authorities.”

“The Covid19 especially delta variant has a pattern of transmission at rapid rate and accordingly prescribed prevention protocols including avoiding mass gathering and unnecessary movement etc are required to be strictly followed to ensure that the infection does not spread.”

Pertinently, the State Executive Committee vide order No 80-JK (DMRRR) of 2021 dated 14-11-2021 has issued detailed guidelines for covid control and mitigation in the Union Territory of J&K.
